The Fibroid Foundation advocates for the passage of The Stephanie Tubbs Jones Fibroid Research and Education Act – H.R. 2007 introduced in The House of Representatives by Representative Yvette D. Clarke (NY-9). The Stephanie Tubbs Jones Uterine Fibroid Research and Education Act will provide $150M to the National Institutes of Health for fibroid research.

In the United States, an estimated 26,000,000 women between the ages of 15 and 50 have uterine fibroids.Uterine fibroids are the most common gynecologic condition in women2, however, treatment options and medical research funding have yet to match the enormity of the affected community.

The “Uterine Fibroids: Burden and Unmet Medical Need” 2017 study found that, “Using ultrasound screening, the estimated cumulative incidence rate of UF (uterine fibroids) by the age of 50 is significantly higher in black women (80%) compared with white women (nearly 70%).”3 Annually, uterine fibroids account for approximately half of hysterectomies performed in the United States.  Data has shown that there are significant cardiovascular risk factors associated with hysterectomy.

According to The Fibroid Foundation, patients are suffering in silence. Community members express concerns about limited treatment options, the high cost of treatment, insurance coverage, and difficulty finding fibroid specialists. The organization recognizes the significant health disparities impacting its community and provides support to address them from a unique patient perspective.

The Fibroid Foundation mission:

  • Normalize conversations about menstruation.
  • Foster a movement for everyone with a uterus to thrive.
  • Eliminate treatment disparities with layered patient support.
  • Engage family and community in the menstrual health mission
  • Enable those diagnosed with uterine fibroids to experience a smooth path to treatment with fulfilling outcomes
  • Spark joy through advocacy.
  • Understand how and why fibroids develop, and ultimately find a cure.

HSG Advisors Named Top Healthcare Management Consulting Firm

HSG Advisors honored as Modern Healthcare’s Top 20 Management Consulting Firms of 2023

HSG Advisors, a national healthcare consulting firm, received a top 20 ranking in Modern Healthcare’s 2023 Management Consulting Firms Survey results. The firms were ranked by self-reported total net healthcare revenue for 2022. In addition to quantitative metrics, the annual survey gathered industry insights on trends, challenges, and best practices from responding firms.

“HSG Advisors has grown rapidly since its founding in 1999, and we’re delighted to be recognized as one of the foremost healthcare consultancies in the nation,” says Travis Ansel, CEO of HSG Advisors. “We appreciate the value Modern Healthcare provides to our industry as a premier source of news and information for healthcare executives.”

The survey asked companies about the state of the healthcare sector over the past year and what they foresee for the industry in the future. Notably, respondents were asked to rank which consulting type is growing the most quickly, and data analytics received the highest number of responses, at nearly 20%. This industry response is on par with HSG Advisors’ own growth trajectory; its Claims Data Analytics capabilities are among its most in-demand consulting services. In the survey, data analytics outranked operational improvement, margin improvement, digital transformation, and merger and acquisition consulting.

HSG Advisors specializes in employed physician networks, providing consulting on physician strategy, leadership, and compensation, as well as network integrity and healthcare system performance. The number of employed physicians surpassed the number of physicians with their own practices in 2018, and then the pandemic significantly accelerated this trend as healthcare mergers and acquisitions and physician buyouts rose 56% from 2020 according to a study issued by the Physicians Advocacy Institute in 2021. HSG Advisors has been uniquely positioned to guide employed physicians and healthcare leaders through this pivotal time, resulting in strong year-over-year revenue growth.
